Why Carent

Everyone has the same worries when renting a car: the car not matching the listing, never getting the deposit back, a damage claim raised at drop-off and extra charges appearing later. Below is how each of those is handled on Carent.

You don't pay for damage you didn't cause

This is the most common problem in car rental: you return the car and get charged for a scratch that was already there. On Carent the condition of the car is recorded with photos in the app at pickup and at return. If a claim is raised, it isn't your word against theirs — the photos speak.

No arguing over the deposit

The vast majority of cars require no deposit at all. In the few cases where one is required, the amount is written on the listing's detail page — before you book. You know in advance how much you will hand over and when you get it back.

A car with unverified documents never goes live

Listings are not published automatically. The vehicle registration, the power of attorney and the compulsory insurance certificate are each checked by Carent — a car without valid insurance or with mismatched paperwork never appears in search at all. Every car offered to you has passed this check.

The person on the other side has been ID-checked

To publish a listing, an ID card and a driving licence must be uploaded; rent-a-car companies must also provide a tax ID (VÖEN) and a state registration certificate. Carent verifies these. So the person on the other side isn't merely a “registered” account — they are someone whose documents have been checked.

No extra charges appearing later

The daily price, the service fee, the mileage limit, the fuel rule, delivery and the cancellation terms are all shown on the booking screen up front. Nobody tells you “you owe this too” when you collect the car: the amount you agreed is the amount you pay.
