Prohibited use
What you must not do with a rented car.

This Prohibited Use Policy ("Policy") governs the acts and types of use that are strictly prohibited, and the legal and financial consequences of breaches, when using any vehicle rented through the carent.az platform and the Carent mobile app ("Carent App", "Platform"), which belong to "CARENT" MMC (limited liability company) ("Carent", "we", "our").
These rules exist to protect the car owner's property, the driver's personal safety and public order.
1. Prohibitions Relating to the Right to Drive and to Identity
Driving the vehicle is STRICTLY PROHIBITED in the following cases:
- Unauthorised Driving: Handing the vehicle to any third party (family member, friend, colleague, etc.) whose documents were not verified at the time of booking and who was not formally approved by Carent;
- Invalid Driving Licence: Placing behind the wheel a person who holds no driving licence, whose licence has been temporarily withdrawn, or who does not hold the relevant vehicle category;
- Driving Under the Influence: Driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, psychotropic substances or strong medical preparations that affect the ability to drive;
- Under Age: Driving of the vehicle by persons who have not reached the age of 18;
- Fake Profile and Identity: Renting a vehicle using another person's documents or a fake profile.
2. Unauthorised Types of Use and Dangerous Driving
- Racing and Dangerous Manoeuvres: Taking part with the vehicle in official or unofficial races, drifting, speed trials, auto shows or aggressive manoeuvres;
- Off-Road: Driving the vehicle in riverbeds, sand, mountainous rocky terrain and marshland where there are no asphalt or hard-surfaced roads;
- Unauthorised Commercial Activity: Using the vehicle for passenger transport (taxi activity), courier work or paid freight transport without an official licence and distinguishing sign;
- Driving Instruction: Using the vehicle for training purposes or to teach driving to persons without driving skills;
- Towing and Overloading: Towing another vehicle, pulling a trailer, or exceeding the maximum load/passenger capacity stated in the vehicle registration certificate.
3. Territorial and Border Restrictions
- Taking the Vehicle Beyond the State Border: Taking the vehicle beyond the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan is strictly prohibited.
- Special Regime Zones: Entering without authorisation into zones that require a special permit / portal permit from state authorities under the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan (for example, the Karabakh and East Zangezur regions without a special permit).
4. Unlawful and Criminal Acts
- Using the vehicle for smuggling, for the transport of narcotics, unlawful firearms or explosive substances, or for the commission of other criminal acts;
- Pledging, selling or unlawfully appropriating the vehicle to third parties;
- Unlawfully interfering with the vehicle's technical components, engine, electronic control unit or odometer (speedometer) reading.
5. Legal and Financial Consequences of Breaching the Rules
If any of the prohibited uses occurs:
- Cancellation of Insurance Cover: In the event of an incident, insurance companies formally refuse all payments and all damage caused is claimed 100% from the Renter;
- Retention of the Deposit and Penalties: The security deposit is retained in full and additional penalties are applied in accordance with the terms of the contract;
- Permanent Ban on the Account: The user's account on the Carent platform is suspended immediately and permanently;
- Court and Criminal Liability: Proceedings are brought before the courts of the Republic of Azerbaijan to recover the damage caused, and, where necessary, a formal criminal/administrative complaint is filed with law enforcement authorities.
